SKB EP in Qualification Contest on Substation’s Equipment Maintenance and Repair in the MES Center

PJSC FGC UES branches started qualification contests of personnel on maintenance and repair of equipment of 220-1150 kV substations.

The teams will have to go through seven stages of Contest to demonstrate their professional skills in maintenance of the column-type SF6 circuit breaker of HPL-245 type; in maintenance and adjustment of a drive of a bulk-oil circuit breaker of U-220 (U-110) type; in maintenance of a RNDZ-110 (RNDZ-220) disconnecting switch; in providing the first aid to the suffered from electric shock; in suppressing the fictitious fire on the oil-filled equipment. They were also to demonstrate the knowledge of rules, guidelines and norms now in force.

On June 4-6 on the training polygon of the Personnel Training Center of Belyi Rast the qualification contest was held for structural units On June 4-6 on the training polygon of the Personnel Training Center of Belyi Rast the qualification contest was held for structural units Backbone electrics grids (MES) of Centre (Valday Enterprise of backbone electric grids (PMES), Upper-Donskoy PMES, Vologodsky PMES, Prioksky PMES, Chernozemny PMES, and Moscow PMES).

Three stages of the Contest out of seven comprised maintenance of substation's equipment, and one of the main assessment criteria was the ability to use the SKB EP instruments for electric parameters control.

SKB EP specialists took part in the contest and participated in the exhibition that was organized in parallel with the contest. Company exhibited its new developments, namely, a MIKO-10 portable microohmmeter, a high-precision microohmmeter MIKO-21, and a well-reputed PKV/M7 analyzer for HV circuit breaker testing.

Throughout the stages the specialists showed interest towards new devices of the Company, could perform tests themselves and check declared functions of the devices.

At Stage 3 the teams were to perform maintenance of HPL-245 SF5 column-type circuit breaker. The task was to measure time characteristics using PKV/M7 analyzer (without using the travel and speed transducers), and to measure transient resistance of the main contacts.

For transient resistance measurement the participants could use devices of any manufacturer, but all the teams were equipped with well-known MIKO-1 and MIKO-2.3 devices manufactured by SKB-EP. Specialists who had no microohmmeter used a high-precision MIKO-21 (the error does not exceed ±0,05%).

The major share of specialist had experience in using the MIKO microohmmeters and had positive opinions on their operation, on their ability to produce continuous high current for obtaining more accurate data.

State 4 of the contest suggested adjustment of the 220 kV bulk-oil circuit breaker of U-110 type, and measurement of travel and speed characteristics by PKV/M7 analyzer.

Unlike Stage 3, the teams were to demonstrate installation of a linear DP12 transducer for controlling the travel and speed parameters, and ability to interpret the obtained digital and graphic data.

At Stage 5 (repair of RNG-220 disconnecting switch with vibration and acoustic control of stick-pedestal insulator) it was necessary to measure the transient resistance of RNG-220 closing switch using MIKO-1 and MIKO-2.3 microohmmeters.

Such contests allow specialists both to test their knowledge, to exchange experience, to communicate with their colleagues and to get answers from the analyzers manufacturer on their numerous questions that arise during devices use.

Our congratulations to the winners! We wish them further success!

It should be noted that at end of July the teams-winners of qualification contests of the Main Electric Networks of PJSC FGC UES will meet at the final inter-regional contest of the maintenance and repair personnel of 220-1150 kV substations.
