SKB EP in Qualification Contest on Substation’s Equipment Maintenance and Repair in the MES Siberia

Branches of PJSC FGC UES regularly hold qualification contests of personnel on maintenance and repair of 220-1150kV substations equipment (Report on the results of Contest Backbone electrics grids (MES) of Siberia is here).

On June 20-23 on the territory of the PS 500kV Substation the contest was held with participation of structural units of Backbone electrics grids (MES) of Siberia: Zabaikalie Enterprise of backbone electric grids (PMES), West-Siberian PMES, Krasnoyarsk PMES, Kuzbass PMES, and Khakassiya PMES.

According to the program of the Contest, three stages out of seven were devoted to substation’s equipment maintenance using special-purpose analyzers manufactured by SKB EP. One of the main criteria of evaluation was ability to appropriately use those devices.

SKB EP specialists took part in the contest and participated in the exhibition that was organized in parallel with the contest. Company exhibited its new developments, namely, the MIKO-10 portable microohmmeter, high-precision MIKO-21 microohmmeter, a well-reputed PKV/U3.1 analyzer for HV circuit breaker testing, and MIKO-2.3 micromillikilloohmmeter.

Students of Khakasski Technical Institute were present at the polygon. The showed a great interest in the SKP EP devices, performed demonstration tests and tested the declared functions of the devices.

At Stage 3 the teams were to perform maintenance of SF6 circuit breaker of HPL-245 type that in terms of diagnosis is relatively new for energy specialists. The task was to measure time proper of the circuit breaker opening and closing against the control commands from PKV/M7 analyzer (without using the travel and speed transducers), and measurement of transient resistances of the main contacts.

The major share of specialists had experience in using the MIKO microohmmeters and had positive experience of their operation, of their ability to produce continuously high current for obtaining more accurate data. For measuring the transient resistance the participants could use devices of any manufacturer, but practically all the teams gave preference to MIKO-1 microohmmeters.

Note: Out of microohmmeters of four manufacturers presented at the contest, the lowest transient resistance close to the passport value of the circuit breaker (37 mkOhm) was obtained on the MIKO-1 microohmmeter only.

State 4 of the contest suggested adjustment of a 220 kV bulk-oil circuit breaker of U-220 type, and measurement of travel and speed characteristics by PKV/M7 analyzer. Unlike Stage 3, the teams were to demonstrate installation of a linear DP12 transducer for controlling the travel and speed parameters, and ability to analyze the obtained digital and graphic data.

At Stage 5 the participants were to measure transient resistance of RNDZ-110 contact-type connection using MIKO-1 microohmmeter.

Our congratulations to the winners! We wish them further success!

It should be noted that at end of July the teams-winners of qualification contests of the Main Electric Networks of PJSC FGC UES will meet at the final inter-regional contest of the maintenance and repair personnel of 220-1150 kV substations.
