Regular diagnostic of HV circuit breaker of ABB LTB 145 type

During the work several instruments were used:

  • PKV/M7 circuit breaker analyzer, as the flagship among PKV group instruments, is a functional and adaptive instrument for time, travel and speed parameters monitoring up to 4 breaks.
  • MIKO-21 micro-ohmmeter has a high resistance measurement accuracy of ±0.05% in the range of 0.1 µΩ – 2 Ω;
  • Manipulating rod is an auxiliary equipment for connecting test cable clamps of various measuring instruments to the bushings of de-energized HV equipment to a height of 5 meters from the ground or a tank cover, without the use of ladders or an elevated work platform.

Circuit breaker designs are constantly improving and changing, so SKB EP regularly adapts instruments for their diagnostic. Adaptation includes attachment devices manufacture so the measuring transducers would be possible to be installed on any type of HV circuit breaker to register speed and travel parameters. In order to monitor parameters of ABB LTB 145 SF6 circuit breaker, a special nozzle No. 64 was developed and tested. The nozzle is supplied with DP21 angular movement transducer.
With the help of MIKO-21, we measured electrical DC resistance of the circuit breaker main contacts.

Moreover, manipulating rod was used during the diagnostic. Manipulating rod made it possible to exclude the special equipment order, and also saved time for diagnostic.

While conducting constant testings and experiments, SKB EP specialists try to expand instruments functionality and to enlarge the obtained results.
