Preparation for the Repair Season
At the end of March a group of specialists of SKB EP gave a complex of workshops on the project "Monitoring of high-voltage switching devices and transformers with the help of SKB EP instruments" in three network companies with the involvement of more than 60 people.
The workshops were carried out with substations foremen, who were directly engaged in operation, monitoring and repairs of high-voltage circuit breakers, i.e. the specific character of their activity was directly connected with maintenance of substations switching equipment.
The workshops project was designed individually with consideration of purchased instruments (or ones of interest) and available high voltage switching equipment stock: First day – theoretical basics of measuring on high voltage circuit breakers with the help of SKB EP-manufactured instruments. Second day – revision of theoretical knowledge, testing with the help of SKB EP instruments on high voltage circuit breakers and/or transformers.
Within the framework of comprehensive training the first workshop was held for foremen of Moscow PMES at the base of Bely Rast SPB (Dedicated Production Base) training center (Moscow). Operational tests were carried out at Raduga Substation on U-220 oil circuit breaker with the help of PKV/M7 instrument.

During operational tests and diagnostics of the obtained results the specialists of Moscow PMES distinguished a range of preferred peculiarities when operating PKV/M7:
- Control of the measurement course is possible directly with the help of the instrument or by using notebook;
- Due to PC software it is possible to store the results of measurements in databases and create measurement and reports patterns in a convenient form;
- In contrast to similar instruments PKV/M7 is supplied with attachment devices for installation of transducers (angular and linear) on all types of Russian and foreign high voltage circuit breakers;
- Marking of pole cables according to color and many other things.
The second seminar took place in the branch of MOESK TcES JSC at the base of Zubovskaya Substation training center (Moscow). The practical part was focused on the diagnostics of test high voltage oil and vacuum circuit breakers with the help of PKV/M7 and MIKO-2.3 instruments.

Following the results of practical trainings, the participants distinguished a range of instruments advantages:
- Micromillikiloohmmeter MIKO-2.3 was noted for its principle of operation, portability (weight 2.7 kg) and ease of use compared to similar instruments;
- PKV/M7 in contrast to analogues provides a possibility of remote instrument control from PC and simultaneous analysis of technical condition of all phases of circuit breaker on the basis of obtained charts.
The last workshop was held for a group of specialists of the branch of MRSK of North Caucasus JSC – Stavropolenergo at the base of Novotroitskiye Electric Mains training centre (Isobilny). Stavropolenergo uses instruments for PKV/M7 and PKV/UZ high voltage circuit breakers diagnostics. Therefore, on the day of practical trainings the workshop participants showed a will to test VMT-110 and VK-10 circuit breakers with the help of PKV/M7 instrument.

The participants liked versatility of PKV/M7 instrument: if high voltage equipment was not supplied with attachment for a linear movement transducer it was not a problem – angular transducer could be used, and the instrument would conduct recalculation of the angular movement transducer readings into the contact travel.
The participants of all workshops noted that the training was carried out at an adequate level. The listeners also left positive response about SKB EP instruments, their capacities, versatility and ease of use.
If you also have a will to learn about the instruments in details during practical trainings, you can always leave an application for a workshop on the company’s website and the specialists will contact you!
