Report on exhibition and workshop in Kazakhstan

The 14^th North Caspian Exhibition "Atyrau Oil & Gas 2015" was held on 14-16 of April in Atyrau, Kazakhstan where SKB EP took part together with the official dealer Patent-Dubl, LLP.

SKB EP representatives presented the whole product range of the Company on the stand: instruments for control of high-voltage circuit breakers, remote controls for circuit breaker drives, instruments for electrical resistance measuring (microhmmeters and milliohmmeters) as well as specialized instruments for control of transformer OLTCs. A new development microohmmeter MIKO-21 was demonstrated for the first time in Kazakhstan and interested visitors of the stand with its modern functionality, measurement accuracy (accuracy ± 0.1%) and ease of use.

Visitors of exhibition could see the instruments and also get complete technical information. During the event, the stand was visited by more than 100 technical specialists of oil and gas industry.

A workshop for professionals of Distribution Networks of Atyrau – Zharyk, JSC was organized during the trip to Kazakhstan. Vacuum circuit breakers of VVE-SES10 brand and transformers of TMTN-6300/110-71-U1 type are in service on the repair bay that is why the following was represented to the workshop participants: instrument for control of high-voltage circuit breakers PKV/M7 and milliohmmeter MIKO-8.

Prior to the event, the specialists had no experience of work with equipment produced by SKB EP, for example, electrical resistance was controlled by means of DLRO-10 and VITOK. Therefore, the workshop participants were interested in testing of already acquired instruments in comparison with milliohmmeter MIKO-8.

The following advantageous characteristics of MIKO-8 became the results of comparative experiment:

1. Milliohmmeter takes measurements significantly faster than the similar equipment.
   
   
The measurement time advantage was achieved due to a special mode “output power range”, which is within 0.3; 1; 5; 20; 62 W. Moreover, due to setting of maximum power of 62W accuracy of readings will be considerably higher.


2. Milliohmmeter has a function of "automatic calculation of relative deviation of winding electric resistance of three phases from each other", which makes it possible to define the poor condition of connections and turn-to-turn short circuits.
   
   
Often, specialists spend some part of their time working with other equipment for the calculations of this kind, so MIKO-8 provides a number of settings and automatic calculations, which the instrument carries out without user intervention:


• Measuring current setting;
• Accounting of load inductance. The instrument automatically determines the time of resistance establishment and stops measurement;
• Calculation of relative deviation of winding electric resistance of three phases from each other;
• Conversion of linear electrical resistance of windings connected in a delta or star circuit to the electrical resistance of the phase windings;
• Conversion of linear electrical resistance of windings, measured at current temperature to electric resistance at certified temperature (taking into account winding material);
• Calculation of the deviations measured and reduced to certified temperature of electrical resistance of windings with respect to certified resistance values;
• Calculation of winding temperature according to its measured and certified value of electrical resistance and certified temperature.
3. It is the only milliohmmeter with the mode "in place OLTC instrument diagnostics" (DRM). Operation of the instrument in this mode consists in the measurement of dynamic transient resistances in OLTC and today it is the only method that allows for effective diagnostics of OLTC technical condition without opening the tank.
The specialist of SKB EP together with the workshop participants conducted in-place diagnostics of RPN-3 on the repair bay, which made it possible to detect the integrity of current-limiting resistors, as well as to record more than 2 times delay in actuating of the high velocity contactor (MIKO-8  result = 130 ms, the standard, according to certificate data = 50 ms). Such failure precludes the automatic use of RPN for switching under load.


4. The specialists of Atyrau – Zharyk, JSC noted functional combination of mode "milliohmmeter" and "in-place diagnostics of OLTC instruments" in one instrument which makes it possible to obtain more complete picture of the transformer technical condition.
